How do you charge for your services?

 

We have an in-house rate card but each job is quoted on individually as the amount of work required and the language combinations will differ from document to document. We mostly quote on the word count of the source document and in some cases by the hour or per page.  We have a minimum charge for very short copy.

 

How will I receive the translation, transcript or proofread document back from you?

 

The document will be emailed back to you in MS Word format.  Where necessary we will insert a table and lay the source text out in paragraphs or sentences to correspond with the target language. We can also handle source documents in Excel, PowerPoint and PDF formats and we will endeavour to stick as closely to the font size and lay-out of the original document.  The final target document will be emailed to you.

 

How long does it take to do a translation?

 

A professional translator can translate approximately 2 000 words per day depending on the complexity of the source document and the research that is required.  Please take this into account when you plan a project.  Translating advertising copy often takes much longer since a certain amount of creativity becomes part of the translation process.

 

My document is only available in hard copy?  What now?

 

Documents may also be faxed to us (+27 86 672 3539), couriered or hand delivered.  Should the content be of a highly sensitive or confidential nature, the translation, proof read document or transcript may be collected or couriered in hard copy or emailed in MS Word format with encryption.  We have a satellite office in Johannesburg to which documents may be delivered.

 

I’m in Cape Town—Can you do work for us?

 

Yes, we can.  Our clients are situated all around the world.

 

How do I pay for the language services?

 

Regular clients fill out a Debtor’s Form and once linked to our database, our payment terms are strictly 30 days from statement.  No jobs will be sent out without a Purchase Order.  Once-off clients will be required to make a COD payment (either via EFT or a bank deposit) prior to receiving the language service required.

 

When do I need the services of a sworn translator? 

 

Personal documents, degrees, certificates, diplomas, custom declarations, contracts etc require the services of a certified translator while documents that need to be presented in a court of law or documents for emigration or immigration purposes require the services of a sworn translator. The skills of a sworn translator are tested and he/she takes an oath before a judge in the high court in order to be registered as a sworn translator and to acquire the right to stamp their translations as sworn translations.

 

Is my translated contract a legal document?

 

Although we take care to translate the contract as correctly as possible, the original source document remains the legally binding document in the event of a dispute.
